Pit Bulls are MEAN!

Well they look mean, don't they...?

...yeah... real mean.

When adopting Star, we were, at first, intimidated by all the hype behind the "Pit Bull" name. But after some research, we found that the hype is purely myth. The media seems to want to have a "bad dog". Twenty years ago it was Rottweilers & Dobermans, and before then, German Sheppards had the bad reputation. Just watch the news, or Animal Planet's, Animal Cops and you'll see that they always mention Pit Bull name when it's misbehaving, but they never make mention of the breed when the attacker is a lab, or collie, or poodle, or any other breed, even though it's the case over 98% of the time.

The fact is that Pit Bulls have been bred for gameness and loyalty. Which, is the exact reason that they will do anything for their owners. If the owner is bad, the dog will be bad, and that can be said for any breed.

Didja know...?

  • The Little Rascals dog, Petey, was a Pit Bull

  • The average for all breeds tested by The National Canine Temperament Testing Association is only 77%, while Pit Bulls have a 95% passing rate (4th highest)
